Silvia Offen

Growing up in Ahrensburg near Hamburg, Silvia Offen started to play the violin at the age of eight. After graduating from high school in 1995, she studied with Thomas Brandis at the Berlin University of the Arts until 2000, during this time she worked temporarily with the Berlin Philharmonic and the German Symphony Orchestra Berlin. From 2001 she studied with Nora Chastain at the University of Music in Lübeck. After completing her studies, she played with the Munich Philharmonic from 2003 to 2004. In 2004 she became associate principal of the 2nd violins of the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra and principal of the 2nd violins of the Leipzig Opera. Since January 2010 Silvia Offen has been a member of the 2nd violins in the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra.
